Gloriosa (Glorious Day) celebrates the old and the new. The repertoire brings together original music by the classical masters with classically inspired pieces by some of Britain's most distinguished contemporary composers. From Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart's Divertimenti for flutes and trumpets and Ludwig van Beethoven's sombre Equali for four trombones to Harrison Birtwistle's sparkling Hoquetus Petrus and Michael Berkeley's beautiful Among the Lilies, the music on this disc proves the richness and diversity of brass music, played by members of Britain's best-loved chamber orchestra.
